Matthias is the Laboratory Manager at the Department of Social
Neuroscience of the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive
and Brain Science in Leipzig, Germany since 2010. He received
his Diploma in Psychology from Freie Universität in Berlin in 2000
and has been working at the Psychology Departments at
Stanford University under the supervision of Prof. Susan C.
Johnson from 2001 to 2005 and at the University of Illinois under
the supervision of Prof. Renée Baillargeon from 2005 to 2009.
Matthias prior research has focused on early cognitive
development, Theory of Mind, and perception of agency in infants
and toddlers. At the MPI, he has been involved in the logistical
planning of a large scale longitudinal project on the effects of
contemplative practice, the ReSource Project, as well as the
development of the intervention protocol.
